Questions

Everything asked on a scoping call

Answered the way we would answer them out loud, including the ones about money and the ones about how this ends.

Short version: a named senior product manager, 10–15 hours a week, embedded in your team within 5–10 working days, on a monthly agreement with 30-day notice and a written exit plan from day one.

What is a fractional product manager?

A fractional product manager is a senior PM who works with your company part-time, usually 10 to 15 hours a week, on a monthly agreement. They own discovery, the backlog, and specs the way an employee would, but you pay only for the hours you need and can change or end the arrangement with 30 days notice.

What is a fractional CPO?

A fractional Chief Product Officer provides product leadership at the executive level, part-time. The scope is strategy, portfolio prioritisation, the product operating model, and building the product team, rather than day-to-day backlog work. It suits companies with two or more product teams and no product executive in place.

What does it cost?

We do not publish rates, because every engagement is scoped to your product, weekly hours, and time zone coverage. What we will commit to in writing is the shape: a fractional PM typically costs 50 to 70 percent less than a full-time senior hire. Message us on WhatsApp and you get an exact figure in a written proposal before anything starts.

How is this different from a consultant or an interim PM?

A consultant advises and leaves a document. An interim PM is a full-time temporary employee, usually covering a fixed gap. A fractional PM is part-time but ongoing: they hold the backlog, sit in your standups, and are accountable for shipped outcomes rather than recommendations.

How many hours a week do you work with us?

Fractional PM engagements run 10 to 15 hours a week, spread across two or three fixed days so your team knows when to expect a response. CPO engagements are scoped to a leadership rhythm rather than an hour count. You can move up or down a band at any monthly renewal.

How fast can you start?

Most engagements begin within 5 to 10 working days of a signed proposal. The scoping call happens within 48 hours of your first message, and the written proposal follows within three working days. Audits and discovery sprints can usually start sooner than ongoing engagements.

What is the ORBIT Method?

ORBIT is our five-stage system for embedding fast and handing off clean: Onboard, Reframe, Bet, Instrument, Transfer. Every engagement runs on the same sequence whether you buy a two-week audit or an ongoing fractional CPO; only the depth of each stage changes.

How do you measure success?

We agree three to five measures before starting, chosen from delivery predictability, activation or retention, cycle time, and decision throughput. That is the Instrument stage of ORBIT: every release ships wired to the metric it is meant to move. Progress is reported weekly in writing and reviewed monthly. If a measure is not moving by the second review, we change the plan or end the engagement.

What happens when we hire a full-time product manager?

That is the intended ending, and we plan for it from day one. We help write the role, screen and interview candidates, then overlap with your new hire for four weeks. You keep the documented strategy, roadmap, specs, and metric definitions. No lock-in and no dependency on us.

Which time zones do you cover?

We work from India on IST, with fixed daily overlap for teams in the UK and Europe and an agreed morning overlap window for teams on US Eastern and Pacific time. The overlap hours are written into the proposal rather than left to goodwill.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes, before any product detail is discussed. Send yours over on WhatsApp, or use ours. Engagement terms, confidentiality, and IP ownership are all settled in writing before work begins, and all work product belongs to you.

Can you work alongside our existing product manager?

Often that is the best version of this. A fractional CPO coaching one or two in-house PMs raises the ceiling of the whole team faster than adding another pair of hands. We agree who owns what in writing so your PM is never guessing where the line is.
